Oracle E-Business Suite Technology Stack - Version 12.2.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
GOAL
Qn1:We are having Oracle E-business suite version 12.2.6. Having a six node application tier with 2 node rac DB ( 12.1.0.2).
We would like to know if users can access Oracle EBS forms when they are connected from IPV6 machine. We noticed that
when users are having only IPV6 (no ipv4 assigned) they are able to login to home page. But when they click forms nothing
happens.
Need to know if this is due to IPV6 ip address
Qn2:
1. We are able to login and access home page in IPV6. Only forms are not opening . Is this expected.
2. EBS 12.2 is expected to continue to require the IPv4-to-IPv6 reverse proxy architecture at least initially.
-- Does that mean R12.2 works on IPV4 not on IPV6 ..
SOLUTION
An1:
1.
EBS DOES NOT handle IPv6 natively. So if one wants to enable IPv6, then one MUST front-load the appliance that handles
IPv6 in front of EBS.
If nothing is available then IPv6 CANNOT be used in the EBS environment
2.
EBS 11i and 12 have been certified to be IPv6-compliant, providing IPv6 support via an IPv6 to IPv4 reverse proxy
architecture.
EBS 12.2 is expected to continue to require the IPv4-to-IPv6 reverse proxy architecture at least initially.
3.
Implementation steps for enabling an IPv6 reverse proxy in your environment will vary depending on what you use for a web
listener.
We've documented a set of implementation steps for an example architecture that uses a Linux-based Oracle HTTP Server
(based on Apache 2.0) reverse proxy.

An2:
1. We are able to login and access home page in IPV6. Only forms are not opening . Is this expected.
--> There are many different reasons that may cause the issue of "forms not open".
Incorrect/unsupported configuration like Not having a reverse proxy in front of EBS 12.2 and have that translate IPv6 traffic
to IPv4 can be one of them.
Before we start to analyze the other possible reasons, having a supported configuration is needed. Therefore we'd suggest
you to implement the steps in Note 567015.1,
the principles outlined in it apply equally to EBS 12.2. We would be willing to support you through your implementation if you
would encounter any issues/questions.
2. EBS 12.2 is expected to continue to require the IPv4-to-IPv6 reverse proxy architecture at least initially.
-- Does that mean R12.2 works on IPV4 not on IPV6 ..
--> Like EBS 11i, 12.0, and 12.1, EBS 12.2 can only handle IPv4 traffic. As documented in Note 567015.1, it is possible to put
a reverse proxy in front of EBS 12.2
and have that translate IPv6 traffic to IPv4.
